Fine Art Portrait | Nicole

The first client to be shot in my new studio was Nicole. This was to be a fine art portrait with Nicole wearing only a sparse shawl made of feathers. Rose was our makeup artist and hair stylist on this shoot, and she gave Nicole a gothic look that worked great for this concept.

I knew I wanted this to be a high-contrast black and white image, so the dark eyes and deep red lips worked great in this case. Nicole has a lot of experience in front of a camera, so she was very comfortable throughout the session. I shot tethered to my MacBook so Nicole and I could both see what micro adjustments were needed in posing and lighting.

We also tried an inverted shot with Nicole and I both lying flat on the floor. The makeup Rose applied worked great for this concept as well. It was a very successful first shoot in the new space.
